How To Sew A Box Cushion Cover With Velcro Closure: Sewing A Box Cushion Cover With Velcro Closure

Sewing A Box Cushion Cover With Velcro Closure

Velcro is an inexpensive, quick, and simple option to upgrade your cushions. If you have youngsters, Velcro can be used as a fastening to prevent cushions from slipping out of their covers as well as to keep them firmly linked to the seat. Both types of cushions can be made quickly using the same techniques.

Step 1: Cut Out Three Pieces Of Cloth

Three cloth pieces should be cut out. One ought to be a little bigger than the desired cushion's dimensions and form. A little bit bigger than half of the first piece of cloth should be the size of the remaining two pieces. These parts will be used to create a hole through which the cushion can be removed. Give yourself enough room to stitch the edges down. For instance, you would cut out one circle and two half-moon shapes to make a circular pillow cover. In order to hem the half moons and attach the Velcro, they must be wider than exactly half of the circle.

Step 2: Lay The Two Smaller Pieces Of Cloth One On Top Of The Other

The larger piece of cloth should be placed on top of the two smaller pieces of cloth. Move them such that their combined length equals that of the longer fabric. There should be some extra fabric where the two pieces of clothing meet. Make sure the "top," or beautiful side, is facing up on both pieces of fabric.

Step 3: Fold The Middle-facing Edge Of The Top Cloth

The top cloth's main facing edge should be tucked under and secured with sewing. Do the same with the bottom piece after that. For the Velcro to close quickly when attached, make sure that the top cloth has a small amount of overhanging the bottom fabric. Put the Velcro on. Sew the bottom of the top piece of cloth to the bottom piece of cloth using one piece of Velcro and the other piece of Velcro.

Step 4: Turn The Cover Inside-out

Onto the bigger piece of cloth, flip the sewed and Velcro portion over. The two sewed pieces should fit together and be the exact same size as the larger piece, with the "front" side of both pieces facing outward. Sew all the way around the edges of the cloth pieces that have been pushed together. You will have a cushion cover with a Velcro clasp if you flip the cover inside out.

Velcro To Secure A Cushion To A Seat

  • Two pieces of fabric should be cut into the cushion's size and shape (a square, an oval, or a rectangle). Give yourself a seam allowance of an additional half an inch all the way around. Ensure that the "top" side of the cloth on each piece is facing the other.
  • Sew the material's edge, either by hand or with a sewing machine. Leave around 3 inches of room open.
  • Pull the cushion cover right-side out using the exposed area. Insulate the cushion. Use batting, cotton, foam, or feathers to make it as plump as you desire.
  • The opening's rough edges should be tucked inside. Close the aperture by hand sewing. On one side of the pillow, manually stitch the Velcro strip in place. Attach the chair to the other side of the Velcro.
