How To Upholster Inside Corners Of Seat: 3 Easy Methods To Upholster Seat Corners

3 Easy Methods To Upholster The Corners Of Seat

If you want to upholster the corners of your seat, be it inside or outside corners, then you just need to follow all the given three methods to finish this task your self without wasting your precious time.

Method 1: Start The Task

  • First of all, cut the upholstery fabric in order to fit the padded seat cushion, after that start making the fabric approximately 3 inches larger on all the sides of the seat.
  • Now you need to place the fabric on a flat work surface with the opposite(wrong) side facing up and then enter your cushion upside down on your fabric.
  • Now its time to stretch your fabric around to the posterior of your cushions along with the side edges and then staple your fabric to your cushion with your staple gun. Staple all the side edges of your fabric to the side edges of your cushion and stop it about 2 inches from each corner.

Method 2: Upholster Inside Corner

  • First of all, start making a diagonal cut in the corner of your fabric against an inside corner of your cushion and stop it about one inch from your cushion.
  • Next, you have to make 2 diagonal cuts about 1/2 inch long from the first cut to finish "Y" cut in your fabric because this will make a flap of fabric at the intersection to cover the corner adequately. Repeat the "Y" cut at each corner.
  • Now you need to pull your "Y" flat straight over the corner and then staple it firmly. Now simply pull each edge of your fabric on each side of the corner straight over your seat cushion & then staple each to the backside of your cushion. Repeat this same process with each of the corners because this type of technique covers the inside corner wholly.

Method 3: Upholster Outside Corner

  • To upholster outside corner, you firstly need to arrange your fabric at the outside corner so that your fabric fans out from the seat corner from all the points where you've already stapled your fabric to the backside of your cushion.
  • Next you need to cut off your fabric at a diagonal near about one inch beyond your outside corner because it cut your fabric at a 45-degree angle & removes a triangle corner of your fabric.
  • Finally, stretch your remaining fabric along the cut edge uninterrupted over the corner and then you need to staple it firmly. Wrap one side edge uninterrupted over your stapled fabric at the corner, pulling it constricting around the corner and then you need to staple it firmly. Wrap the leftover side edge consecutive over your already stapled fabric and then you have to pull it tight in order to make your seat corner neat. Staple your fabric tightly.
