Easy Way For Treating The Pallet Wood For Termites
The termites are insects who mostly live below ground in colonies and like to eat wood, dead plants, and trees as well. The infection of the termites in the homes can be devastating, resulting in losing thousands of dollars as property damage. The termites can be of subterranean and dry wood both are very harmful that can hit the homes badly but if the user will take the proper and correct measures the termites can be eradicated so that they are prevented from coming back in the future. The easy way to treat pallet wood for termites is mentioned below:
- Cleaning: The first step, to begin with, is cleaning the surface, the user needs to clean all the dust from the pallet wood in case of furniture clean the finish such as varnish. In case the wood has been kept in the cold environment that time make sure to put it in a warm place for some hours before starting the treating process.
- Cover The Work Area: After the cleaning is done the next step is to cover the work area with the newspaper and the important point is that Ventilate the space by opening a window and running a fan if possible. The user needs to wear the work gloves, filtration mask, and safety goggles as these gadgets will help to protect the skin, eyes, and lungs.
- Borate Preservative: Now prepare a solution of the borate preservative by mixing one pound of borate preservative with one gallon of water in a bucket and then stir the solution with the stick or stirrer.
- Apply The Solution: After that the next step is to apply the solution to the pallet wood using a paintbrush the user can also use the old one for this purpose. Apply the preservative solution thoroughly soaking both ends of the pallet wood. Let the wood dry before going for the second coat, it's advisable to wait at least four hours.
- Water-Repellent: Once the user has also applied the second coat as well then apply a water-repellent finish to the wood, with the help of a paintbrush but at least 48 hours after the second coat.
- Clean: Once all the treating job is done then clean the hands, clothing, paintbrushes and also the work area with the soap and water.
