Cleaning: The first step is to remove any kind of loose dirt, food and paint splatters. For the initial cleaning process use the old credit card or a flexible card scraper, then dust off with a brush to reveal any watermarks, ink stains, etc.
Mild Detergent And Water: Now damp cloth in the mild detergent and water, wipe all the area with a solution then dry with a clean cloth.

Rub Out Blemishes: In order to rub out the blemishes apply an automotive polish or metal polish and rub gently with a cloth.
Removing French-Polish: Remove the old French-Polish use the spirits like denatured alcohol apply it to the surface and it will start dissolving it.
Fix Loose Veneer: It's very easy to fix the loose veneer simply by reactivating the existing glue to do that place some brown paper on the affected area, apply the heat from the iron, then rub the veneer downwards while it's hot.
Polish: The french polish is available either in ready to use option or can mix it by yourself for that place some shellac flakes in a glass or jar and add some spirit and leave it for a day.
Apply: Polish is usually applied with the help of rubber that is a pad of lint-free cotton stuffed with the wool of cotton. Pour the polish on the pad and start rubbing on the furniture in a circular motion, once the area is fully covered then sweep in the straight strokes.
Dents And Gouges: Now look for any dents and gouges and fill them with the help of the shellac stick of the same color.
Build Up The Coats: Now apply the coats of the polish until the desired look is achieved.
