Methods To Repair/Fix All Types Of Cracks In Exterior Wood Doors

The cracks in the exterior wood doors can be of different types like small, medium or large. So different cracks can be filled with different methods which are mentioned below:
  1. Hairline Cracks: In case of the hairline cracks, the user can use the exterior wood filler. Once the filler is dried then use the 220-grit sandpaper to sand it up. Once the sanding is done then use the stain pen to match the color of finish used in rest of the door.
  2. Medium-size Cracks: For the medium-size cracks the user can use the glue. Simply apply the wood glue in the affected area but make sure that glue penetrates in the affected area fully, after that use the clamps to clamp down the door together and allow the glue to dry completely.
  3. Larger Cracks: Now if there are larger cracks that time use the epoxy compound with the glue. Simply fill the affected area with the epoxy sealer. After that inject the epoxy adhesive into the large crack with the built-in applicator. The epoxy will expand automatically fill out the cracks and allow it to dry then seal it with the sealer. Apply the two coats of the sealer, once the first coat dries then go for sanding with the 220 grit sandpaper and stain pen to match the finish.
  4. Slice Of Wood: The other option that the user can go for is to use the slice of wood, that will fit the crack. Firstly, apply the exterior wood glue to the slice of wood and gently tap or pound it in the affected area, tap it with the help of rubber mallet. Allow it to dry and then sand the excess glue at last use the stain to match the same finish.
