However, you may think of only lubricating your office chair wheels, which is not right, due to the fact that lubricating them is just a finishing step when it comes to improving yours casters mobility. Hence, we can say that lubricating is not the only answer that will make your office chair roll better, particularly when your wheels are already dirty & old. However, in some cases where your wheels are already broken or its plastic parts are already brittle, then cleaning your office chair wheels is not enough to make them better. Cleaning Office Chair Wheels(Single-Wheel Design) To Make It Roll Better

In order to maintain the mobility as well as the performance of your office chair wheels, you need to regularly clean it, get rid of the dirt and hair as well as lubricate it for maximum mobility. To make your office chair roll better, it is also important to regularly clean the casters. You can clean your office chair in three easy steps when it comes to single-wheel designs.

Step 1: Flip Your Chair

First of all, you need to flip or turn over the chair. Flipping over the chair will give you a better view of your casters. Also, there is no threat of chair falling over you.

Step 2: Cleaning

After flipping over the chair, you need to get rid of any visible sign of dirt as well as hair. Getting rid of dirt and hair can be done in two ways: with your hands or using a vacuum cleaner. When there is a lot of hair, then the best option is to tear the hair apart before blowing it with the help of a vacuum cleaner. This is, due to the fact that the hair that is on the wheels could already be trapped betwixt the wheels and the axel. After getting rid of the hair, use a vacuum in order to get rid of the dust and gunk from the casters. When you are completely satisfied with the cleanliness of the wheels, you need to wipe the casters with the help of a dry fabric.

Step 3: Lubricate Your Wheels

Lastly, you need to use a lubricant on your wheels. Using the nozzle, you need to put a small amount of lubricant on the axel and the bearings. When there is excess lubricant on the casters, it is important to wipe them off using a clean dry fabric or tissue.

Cleaning Twin-wheel Design Office Chair

  • When it comes to twin-wheel types of chairs, cleaning wheels is a little different. Twin-wheel types are those having pairs of wheels together in one caster. You need to disassemble the twin-wheel chairs before cleaning the chair unlike single-wheel designs where you can just clean the casters while they are connected to the chair. Pulling out the wheels from the axel will make it easier for you to get the hair as well as dirt out. To remove one wheel, you will need two screwdrivers. You can also do this using your bare hands, but there is a risk of breaking the wheels.
  • Put the two screwdrivers on each side of the axel before taking hold of the tools, slowly lift the wheel as long as it pops out. This way, neither the wheel breaks nor will you hurt your hands in the process. When you have removed two wheels, you can easily clean and lubricate the wheels, exactly the same way as you did for single-wheel design above.
  • To put back the wheels into the axel, you simply need to align the holes found in the middle of the wheels before pushing the wheels down to the axel. Your wheels should be “locked” in such a way that it is not easily eliminated when you pull it out.
