Easy Ways & Materials Required To Clean Wooden Furniture At Home

Before proceeding towards the cleaning process the users need to detach all the removable parts from the wood furniture item like the cushions and the metal hardware.   • Bucket, Bowl, Spray Bottle Or Jar
  • White Vinegar
  • Soft Cloths
  • Filtered Water Or Olive Oil
  • Vacuum

Way I- Removing The Dust

  • Detach The Cushions or Hardware: Start by detaching the cushions and the metal hardware and to do so they need to drag the furniture item away from the surface of the wall and then place down the cushions or the pillows from the top furniture surface. Then detach all the screws or the ornamented knobs as well. The users are advised not to detach any hardware that is holding up the furniture item together.
  • Use The Vacuum: Then they need to use the vacuum so as to remove the dust and to do so they need to attach the brush with the vacuum and then slowly clean up the entire furniture surface and also the cracked area. Then they need to use the damp cloth so as to wipe down the furniture item.
  • Clean Up The Cushions: Then the users need to clean up the cushions if it is possible for them and then they need to check the cushion tags so as to find their fabric type. Way II- Cleaning With The Vinegar

  • Dilute The Vinegar With Water: Start by diluting the white vinegar and the water and to do so they need to mix three spoons of the vinegar with a cup of water. Then stir the solution so that all the ingredients are mixed properly.
  • Test The Solution: Then they need to find out the unnoticeable area for testing the solution. The users are advised to apply the solution beneath the furniture item. Then they need to soak the soft cloth in the vinegar solution and then apply it accordingly and buff it by using another dry cloth. If in case the users find out any negative effect then they are advised not to apply this solution and if they did not find any negative effect they can proceed further with this solution.
  • Apply The Solution: Then they need to soak the whole cloth in the vinegar solution and then rub it all over the surface of the furniture item and they are advised to move the cloth in the round motions and then rub the cloth as per the wood grain pattern. Then clean up all the vinegar residue from the entire surface of the furniture item by using another clean cloth respectively.

Way III- Polishing By Using The Vinegar And Oil

  • Dilute The Solution: Start by diluting the white vinegar with the olive oil and to do so they need to mix up 1 part of the olive oil with 1 part of the white vinegar and the users can also add few drops of the lemon juice to the solution. Then pour the solution in the medium-sized jar. Instead of the olive oil, the users can simply use the fresh lemon juice with the distilled vinegar and the flax oil so as to polish up the furniture item. The lemon juice offers the pleasing smell and also works as the cleaning agent.
  • Test The Solution: Then they need to find out the unnoticeable area for testing the solution. The users are advised to apply the solution beneath the furniture item. Then they need to soak the soft cloth in the vinegar solution and then apply it accordingly and then buff it by using another dry cloth. If in case the users find out any negative effect then they are advised not to apply this solution and if they did not find any negative effect they can proceed further with this solution.
  • Apply The Solution: Then they need to soak the rag in this solution and then rub it vigorously all over the surface of the furniture item and the users need to make sure that this solution is evenly distributed all over the item so that all the watermarks and the minute scratches get removed off. Then they need to switch on to another soft rag so as to clean up the solution residue accordingly.
  • Polish Up The Wood Item: The users are advised to polish up their wood furniture two times a year so as to make their furniture item look glossy and also help them in preventing from looking worn and dry.
