2 Easy Parts & Items Needed To Clean Wood Pallets

If you have a wood pallet and you want to clean it, you can do so easily. The users need to collect certain items first and then follow the 2 parts with steps carefully:

Items Required

  • Gloves & Chlorine Bleach
  • Hammer & Liquid Dish Soap
  • Garden Hose & Water
  • Sandpaper, Bucket & Sawhorses
  • Respirator Facemask & Scrub Brush
  • Old Clothing & Scrub Brush

Part 1: Evaluating The Wood Pallet

  • Sharp Bumps: First of all, the users need to start by looking for the sharp bumps. They need to wear gloves so as to check the wood pallets and inspect the entire pallet area in order to check any nails or the tacks are projecting outwards. If in case they find any sticking nail then they need to detach it by using the hammer claw and if they find out many tacks they need to detach it by using the tack puller.
  • Discoloration: The users also need to check the discoloration of the pallets and to do so they need to visually check the entire surface of the wood pallets.
  • Check The Marking: Then they need to check the marking that usually identifies the wood pallet and they need to check the wood pallets for any stamps or the words that do not belong to the logo of the company and those marking can be branded to the wood surface and if the users did not find any symbols or numbers then they need to understand that the pallet is entirely safe.

Part 2: Wash And Sand The Wood Pallet

  • Housing: The users need to start by housing the pallets in the outdoor area as the users are advised not to take the dirty pallets to the inside area of the room. They need to use the power washer or the garden house so as to offer the wood pallets the first rise and this will clean up all the debris particles and then let the wood pallets to get dried off completely.
  • Dismantle: Then they need to dismantle the wood pallets if they desire and to do so they need to use the hammer, the prybar and the cat's paw to dismantle the wood pallets without destroying them. If in case the prybar was not able to detach the pallets then they need to use the drill to unfasten all the nails from the surface of the wood pallets.
  • Sand: Once the wood pallets are dried the users then need to sand down the wood and to do so they need to place the wood pallet in between the sawhorses and then use the fine-grit sandpaper and rub it over the entire surface of the wood pallets in order to create a smooth finish accordingly.
  • Scrub: Then scrub the wood pallets by using the soap solution and to do so the users need to make a mixture of the soap and the water in a small-sized bucket and then stir the solution. Then they need to soak the srub in the mixture and rub it over the entire surface of the wood pallets respectively.
  • Clean Up: Finally they need to clean up all the soap residue from the wood surface by rinsing it with the clean water and then start scrubbing it again. The users need to again use the power washer or the garden hose to clean up the wood pallets and then allow the wood to get dried off accordingly.
