How To Apply Contact Paper To Furniture: Easy Steps

Easy Steps To Apply Contact Paper To Furniture

The contact paper is an adhesive paper that can be mostly used as a covering or lining. Here are the easy & quick steps to apply contact paper to your furniture. Just follow every given step to get the best result.
  • First, clean your furniture but make sure not to polish it, which is not necessary. Just be sure that you have a nice, clean surface for applying the contact paper.
  • If you see any noticeable bumps on your furniture, then sand them down because it will make the paper bulge.
  • Now, line your contact paper up carefully with the edges where you are going to apply it, and cut it to fit before peeling back the adhesive and sticking it on your furniture.
  • Carefully cut your paper very straight-edged by using a Xacto blade and a big ruler. This will make a difference in getting a professional look and no one will realize it is a contact paper (without touching it, anyway).
  • Hide the seams such as table leg and use a Xacto blade to remove any uneven paper edges from your furniture.

Measuring and cutting

  • Table Leg: Wrap a piece of your contact Paper carefully around a table leg. Make a pencil mark on the grid on the back because it will help you to know exactly where to cut. Now cut a piece of your contact paper according to the required width that you need to cover that table leg without any overlaps or gaps at the seams.
  • Large Flat Surface: Some surfaces of the furniture are bigger than the length of a roll of the contact paper. In these situations, you may need to cover large surfaces in strips cut for the length of the table.
