2 Easy Methods To Clean Old Dog Urine From Your Carpet

If you have puppies or dogs in your homes then you need to take proper care of your carpet because the pets can pee on it, and removing the dried stains and odor of dog urine can be difficult, but don’t worry here are the 2 easy methods to remove old dog urine smell out of carpet, simply follow the given methods and steps carefully.

Method 1: Cleaning With Vinegar And Baking Soda

Here are the easy steps to follow this method:
  1. Mix: Mix together water & vinegar (white) in a clean spray bottle. Combine one cup (240 ml) of distilled vinegar(white) with 1 cup (240 ml) of water (warm) in a spray bottle. Shake this solution to mix it exhaustively & dilute the vinegar. Test your spray bottle on sink before using it on your carpet.
  2. Spray: Spray your created mixture on the urine stain & then let it sit for at-least 15 minutes. Hold your spray bottle 3–4 inches in (7.6–10.2 cm) over your carpet & pull the trigger to apply this solution to your carpet. Coat the entire stain with solution so your carpet is entirely saturated, & then let it soak in for at-least 15 minutes.
  3. Cleaning Cloth: Dab your carpet to lift up any excess vinegar mixture. Use an old sponge or old cleaning cloth & press onto the vinegar to soak up the liquid from your carpet. Work across the full stain so your carpet isn’t soaking wet. When you've finished this work, instantly wash the cloth or you can throw it away.
  4. Deodorize The Carpet: Cover the white vinegar solution with baking soda to deodorize the carpet. Coat the entire surface of the affected area with a thin layer of baking soda & press it into the fabric by using a cloth. Once your baking soda is applied, let it sit for few minutes to pull out the odor & moisture from deep in the carpet. The baking soda will work back up against the surface & also form a thin crust on the carpet.
  5. Vacuum: Finally vacuum the baking soda once it’s dry completely. When the baking soda is completely dry, run your vacuum cleaner over the affected area to lift it out of the carpet. Go over the spot numerous times to get any baking soda that’s deep in your carpet. Once done, smell the affected area of your carpet that was stained to see if there’s still a urine scent, if yes then repeat the previous step.

Method 2: Applying A Hydrogen Peroxide Paste

Here are the easy steps to follow this method:
  1. Make A Mixture: Simply mix baking soda, dish washing and hydrogen peroxide. Combine 1 (1/2) tbps.(22ml) of hydrogen peroxide, 1 and f u.s tbps. of liquid dish soap, and finally 2 tablespoon (28g) of your baking soda in a plastic bowl & stir it together. The mixture will become a thick paste & start bubbling as they react with each other. Keep stirring this mixture until it’s exhaustively mixed.
  2. Apply: Next, apply this paste to the affected area of urine with a spoon & leave it for up to 60 minutes. Use a spoon to scoop & spread this paste stained area. Once you’ve spread this paste on the whole stain, now leave it for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Remove The Paste: Dab this paste off your carpet by using a wet cloth. Now wet your cleaning cloth with warmest water you can handle & wring it out. Push this cloth rigidly onto the paste to lift it out from the carpet. Re wet your cleaning cloth now if it dries out & keep dabbing the stain until you remove the paste as much as you can.
  4. Dry: Dry the carpet now with the help of paper towels. Once you've removed this paste now place a layer of paper towels over the wet spot & softly press down to absorb any remaining liquid. Avert wiping your paper towel from side to side so you don’t work it back into your carpet.
