There are many types of upholstery fabric and some among them are mentioned as follows:
  1. Leather: This fabric belongs to the category of the natural fibers that are utilized in crafting the upholstery for the furnishing items. The leather upholstery is ideal to get used in the homes that are having small children and pet animals as it very durable in nature and will last for many years. The leather upholstery can also be cleaned easily by using the vacuum cleaner or by using the damp cloth. The leather fabric does not absorb the liquid spills and that is why it usually doesn't stink.
  2. Polyester: The other name of the polyester is the microfiber and it belongs to the category of the synthetic fibers. These kinds of fibers are available in many colors textures and that is why it can get customized so easily according to the taste of the users. The polyester fabric is usually blended with the other natural fibers so as to increase its durability. These kinds of fabric are spill-resistant and it gets dried off quickly.
  3. Olefin: This fabric also belongs to the category of the synthetic fabric but this fabric is petroleum-based fiber. This kind of fabric is having the natural resistance towards the water and the other harsh chemicals. This fabric can also be cleaned with the bleach without even causing any damage to its finish. This fabric is ideal in making the upholstery for the heavily used furnishing items respectively.
  4. Rayon: This fabric also belongs to the synthetic fabric category and is crafted from the fabric chips. This fabric is very durable and is having resistance towards the mildew. The rayon fabric is very inexpensive than the rest of the other fabrics. This fabric is not ideal to get used in the homes that are having small kids and pets as this fabric can get scratches easily.
  5. Wool: This fabric belongs to the category of the natural fibers and is quite expensive than the rest of other fabrics. The wool is having the natural resistance towards the mildew and fading as well. The wool is having the insulating properties that allow it to stay cool in the hot temperature and the hot in the cold temperature. The wool fabric is very durable and is environmentally friendly as well.
  6. Cotton: The cotton fabric is most commonly used in crafting the upholstery for the furniture items. This fabric is also blended with some other synthetic fabrics so as to add more durability to it. The cotton fabric is hypoallergenic that indicates it is highly suitable for those that are having sensitive skin.
  7. Silk: The silk is one of the natural types of fibers and it is very expensive than the rest of other fabrics. The silk fabric is available in many colors and textures and it can also get customized as per the requirements of the users. The silk fabrics can last for many years if maintained properly. The silk upholstery offers a formal look and the luxurious appearance to any home decor. The silk upholstery holds its shape and it does not get wrinkled so easily.
