Wood stain refers to paint type that is used to color the wood. The process in which wood stain is applied over the wood is known as wood staining. Some of the pros & cons of wood staining are as follows;
Pros
- Rot Prevention: Wood staining prevents the outdoor unsealed wood from rotting that creates the hazard of collapse and makes the outdoor projects look less pleasing. Once the rot starts in the wood, it cannot be stopped in a real way due to which, it has been recommended by the experts to stain the outdoor wood right away and re-coat it after regular intervals.
- Sun & Moisture Protection: If the wood freezes once the water gets inside it, there is a huge possibility that the wood will break and cause total destruction of the wood project. On the other hand, sunlight can cause unsightly discoloration in the unsealed wood. It has been recommended to preserve the structural integrity and appearance of unsealed wood with wood stain.
- Aesthetics Preservation: The natural look of wood gives it an aesthetic appeal that can only be preserved with wood staining rather wood painting. By staining, the wood grain remains visible and it has been recommended to use an uncolored stain for a completely natural look.

- Expensive & Time-Consuming: The wood staining process is very time-consuming and can be a bit expensive as well compared to wood painting.
- Dangerous: Some wood stains contain harmful chemicals that can directly affect the user working with it.
