Steps And Items Needed To Fix Roller Blind Mechanism Problems

In the 18th century most people used old fashioned roller blinds in order to cover your windows but some times the mechanism of roller blinds will fail to work and this is because the dust & dirt remains stuck there. If you want to fix the roller blind mechanism then you just need to collect all the given items and follow all the given steps. Here is the list of required items and steps:

Things You Will Need

  • Straight Screwdriver

  • Soft Cloth
  • Needle-Nose Pliers, Optional

Too Loose

  1. Firstly, you need to check the spring action, for this pull the blind down. You have to leave the blind in the mounting brackets. If you see that the shades are loose while you hang it, simply unroll it from the roller.
  2. After that, you need to remove your blind from it's hanging brackets. One end of your blinds has a free-rolling round pin-end & the other has a flat pin-end that is attached to its ratchet mechanism inside your roller. You need to use a small flat screwdriver to pry the end cap off your roller blind on the end with the flat pin.
  3. Clean out the ratchet and pawl with the help of a vacuum cleaner. Dust & dirt that establish inside the roller can hamper the progress of the mechanism. Spray a light coating of lubricant on the mechanism and wipe away any extra lubricant with a soft cloth.
  4. Next you need to replace the end cap and place your blind in the hanging brackets.
  5. Pull down your blind to unroll it about transitional. Lift the flat pin-end from the bracket and roll up your blind by your hand. Return the rolled blind to the bracket.
  6. Pull down your blind to check for intransigence. Repeat the pull-down & hand-rolling steps until your blind works correctly.

Too Tight

  1. First of all, you need to pull down your blind to check the spring action, leaving your blind in the mounting brackets. If your roller blind instantaneously snaps back up, or if it or if your roller blinds pull down with frustration or won’t stay down, then you need to know that spring is too tight.
  2. Next you need to remove your blind from it's hanging brackets. Pry off your roller end cap from the end of the roller with the flat pin by using a flat screwdriver.
  3. Clean dust and dirt from the mechanism with a vacuum cleaner. Lightly lubricate the ratchet assembly with spray lubricant and wipe away excess with a soft cloth.
  4. Next you need to replace the end cap & hang your blind in the brackets.
  5. Lift the flat pin-end from the bracket & unroll your blind three or four turns. Place your blind back in the bracket. Test the blind’s return action with a gentle pull and release.
  6. Repeat the unrolling 1 or 2 turns at a time, checking the intransigence after each adjustment until the blind operates down & up accurately.
