Best & Simple Way Of Replacement Of Glass Patio Table Top With Wood

A patio table top is known to define the style of the outdoor living space. The user might already have an outdoor patio table with a glass top but they need to replace the top. In order to cut down a patio tabletop from wood, it is an easy task. The first thing is that the user will need to decide on the design of the tabletop. The user can choose anything from a wooden slat style tabletop or to the one having a solid surface. Below the user will find steps that will help the users to cut a wooden slat style patio tabletop:
  1. Staining: When the user is creating a tabletop in which the 3 sides can be seen, it is the best option to stain the wood before cutting it. The user should stain from all sides of the wood, then touch up any of the places that end up being cut and sanded later. Once the stain is dry, the user will be able to cut as well as assemble the wood pieces without waiting further.
  2. Supporting Boards: The user will need to make 4 boards that are about 42 inches long each of them. Take a board on the sawhorses then with the help of measuring tape measure and then mark one of the 2x6 boards at about 42 inches. With the help of saw, cut at the marked point. Repeat the same step three more times for other boards.
  3. Attach The Boards: To form a tabletop place the plywood across the sawhorses work area. Place all the supporting boards along with the table at about 26-inch intervals. Place the remaining 8 2x6 boards all across the brackets but evenly. There should be 9 inches of overhang on each side of the support boards from the outside. Now, its time to use the screws and drill to secure the boards to the supports. Once done, the user will have a solid patio table top which is needed to be cut to shape.
  4. Mark The Cut: Use a premeasured template design. Then the user needs to lay down the template over the table and secure it with the help of tape. Using the pencil mark the curved cuts to the table. Remove the template to see where the cuts need to be done.
  5. Make The Cut: In this step the user needs to remove the plywood from the sawhorses and then place the tabletop on them. With the help of jigsaw cut the rounded shape of the new table. It's advisable to use the safety glasses and make sure that the saw is running before cutting.
  6. Sanding: The last step is to sand it down and then finish staining the tabletop, apply few coats of polyurethane to weatherproof the table.
