Step By Step Instructions To Remove Chocolate Stains From Upholstery

Chocolate stain is one of the common stain that can get to any furniture product including upholstery, especially if you have children in the house. If your upholstery get affected by chocolate stain, then you need to get rid of the stain as soon as possible in order to prevent the stain from spreading to any fabric on the upholstery itself. Things You Will Need

  • Butter Knife Or Piece Of Card Stock
  • Paper, Ice Cubes & Plastic Bag
  • Damp Sponge & Mild Dish Soap
  • White Towel & Cornmeal

Step By Step Instructions

  1. Distress Chocolate Stain Spot: First of all, distress the chocolate stain spot with the edge of your butter knife or you can also use a piece of card stock, like an index card, simply distress from the outside edge of the chocolate stain spot inwards to avert spreading the chocolate.
  2. Scrape The Chocolate Stain: Next, you need to hold the edge of a piece of your paper as you distress to push your chocolate crumbs onto your paper for the removal process. Continue scraping the chocolate as long as you have removed as much as possible.
  3. Place Bag Of Ice Cube Over Chocolate Stain: Now, you need to place some ice cubes in your zippered plastic bag if you see that any chocolate residue remains on your furniture and seems to be soft or moderately melted. Set your bag of ice over your chocolate for at least 10 minutes or as long as the chocolate spill hardens. Remove your ice bag and then you need to repeat step 1 to scrape away the hardened chocolate debris.
  4. Mild Liquid Dish: Then, you need to squirt a drop of your soap(mild liquid dish) onto your damp sponge. Blot the chocolate stain with the help of your sponge and rub the spot from the outside edge inbound to lift away the chocolate stain. Continue your work as long as you have removed as much of the chocolate spot as possible.
  5. Wipe The Chocolate Stain Again: Rinse your sponge and then you need to wipe the chocolate spot again to remove any leftover soap. Pat dry with the help of a white towel, using a white as averse to a dyed towel avert dye from transferring onto your upholstery.
  6. Sprinkle Cornmeal Over The Chocolate: You may also need to sprinkle enough your cornmeal over the chocolate to cover the chocolate spot if any chocolate remains on your furniture. Allow the cornmeal to set for at least 30 minutes or up to 60 minutes absorb any greasy residue which is left from the chocolate. Wipe away with the help of a dry towel.
