  • Separate The Old Cylinder

  • Tightly Secure The Wrench
    Near the top of the old cylinder, you need to tightly secure the wrench and then twist it all the way as long as it releases from the mechanism. If in case you don't have access to a pipe wrench, then you can release the mechanism from the chair simply by unscrewing the main bolts that are on the bottom of the seat. After that, with the help of the rubber mallet again tap the mechanism away from the chair. The base of the chair is usually connected either with retaining clips or nut as well as bolts at its center. You need to get rid of the retaining clips or remove the nuts and bolts with the help of a wrench or drill. Finally, pull out the base of the chair.
  • Apply Lubricant (WD-40)

However, it is highly advisable to protect the surrounding surfaces as well as the chair fabrics before you apply lubricant. Put down a pipe wrench on the gas cylinder, before spraying it with WD-40 in order to lubricate it and make it easier to remove.
