Best And The Easy Way Of Attaching Buttons On Leather Chair

Buttons are usually used to give a tufted look to the leather chairs. If the user has an older leather chair and a button from the chair has come off or if the user has purchased a new leather chair that has no button, it can ruin all the chair’s look. So in order to replace or attach a new button on the leather chair follow the steps given below carefully and achieve the desired result of your task:
  1. Thread The Upholstery Needle: Thread glovers or the leather needle using the thread of a suitable color that matches the chair, and then tie a knot right at the end of the thread. The upholstery needle is a special type of curved needle that is used in the areas where the user cannot reach both sides of the fabric. However, the upholstery thread is a thick and strong thread. Both of them are available in any of the fabric stores.
  2. Pull The Thread: If in case the button is attached and is hanging loose that time pull the remaining thread tight. Simply stick the upholstery needle in the fabric directly right behind the button, pick up the 1/4 inch of the fabric. Take the needle into the shank, or the wire loop, right on the back of the button, and start pushing it into the fabric behind the button once again. Pull the upholstery thread tight so that the button is secured properly.
  3. Suitable Replacement Button: If the user does not have the original button of the leather chair, that time purchase a suitable replacement button. After that insert the upholstery needle in one of the holes at the spots where the original button was located, and simply push the needle into the other hole. Pull up the thread tightly, so that this will help the button to rest at the same depth as other buttons are on the leather chair.
  4. Repeat: Repeat the process of pulling the thread into the button and the holes in the leather chair for five or six times until the new button is properly attached. Each time try to pull the thread tight. Knot the thread as close to the button as possible leaving 1/4 inch of thread to prevent the knot from becoming untied. Cut the end of the thread with the help of a pair of scissors to remove all the excess threads.
  5. White Glue: Dab a little bit of the white glue on the tied knot as this will keep it from becoming loose. Leave the glue to dry completely for a few hours before using the leather chair.
