When so ever the users install the door or the window trim or install the baseboards it usually results in the holes that need to get filled up with the wood filler. The users can easily use the wood filler on trim at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-mentioned procedure:

Materials Required

  • Sandpaper,Vacuum, Tack Cloth & Wood Stain
  • Wood Filler, Putty Knife, Polyurethane Sealer & Paint

Procedure

  • Sand Down And Clean The Trim: Before applying the wood filler the users need to sand down the loose fragments of the wood by using the fine-grit sandpaper. Once they sanded down the loose chunks they need to wipe off the dust by using the damp cloth and then allow the wood trim to get dried off completely.
  • Apply The Filler Material: Once the wood trim is dried off completely they need to start applying the wood filler material at the corner of the trim and keep on pressing down the material into the hole and overfill it and then let it get shrunk at that area once it dries off. The users then need to smoothen the area by using the putty knife. Then the users need to let the filler material get dried for a few hours.
  • Sand The Filled Spot: Once the wood filler material is dried off completely then they need to gently sand down the area till it is smooth. When the users rub their hands over the filled area they should feel the smooth surface. Then they need to clean up the dust from the filled area by using the tack cloth again.
  • Apply The Finish: Once the users have successfully filled up the depression they need to apply the paint over the trim and then seal the paint accordingly.
