Another name of a standing desk is a stand-up desk. Generally, it is used for writing as well as reading when you are standing up or sitting on a stool. Some desks are constructed for teacher lectures. The height of the desks varies from 70 to 128 centimeters. Even standing desks have a number of health benefits as it reduces the discomfort that comes from sitting down for a long period of time. But if you don't use it correctly they can cause fatigue. So adjust your desk as well as body postures with the workspace.

Part 1: Adjusting Your Work Space

  • You have to adjust the table up to the height of your elbows. Keep your arms at a 90-degree angle while using the mouse or when you are doing typing. This thing will help your arms to move smoothly and will help you to keep your arm away from elbow strains. You don't have to keep loose items on the table and check before adjusting the table desk whether all the cables are unplugged or not.
  • Keep your screen below your eye level. The thin thing will save your eyes from the strain. Keep your monitor one arm distance away from where you stand. You can also install the second screen near the mouse.

Same as an above monitor should be at one arm level to stay away from your eye from stains and for keyboard, your arms should form a 90-degree angle.
  • Keep your chair closer to the table so that you can sit easily down on it especially when you feel tired. You have to sit down regularly to avoid leg pains. You have to keep a chair beside your desk in order to sit on it by lowering your desk during the day.

Part 2: Positioning Your Body

  • Wear comfortable shoes because standing over the legs on the whole day increases the pressure on the feet. So it's important for you to wear correct shoes and the shoes which don't hurt your feet. Always try to avoid the high heels when you are doing work on the desk. Use flat shoes that should be of no padding. Running shoes are also good for your workplace. If it is possible then work barefooted at your workplace.
  • Keep your back and neck always straight. Always keep your posture good while working to avoid the back pain and the fatigue caused by the constricted blood vessels. Your back should maintain the "s" curve while doing work in standing posture. Keep your head up, shoulders, neck, and back straight. Try to avoid leaning on the desk as this causes your back and neck to curve.
  • You have to rest your feet on a stool if you see your feet are aching. If you see that your legs are painful and are tired from standing when you are doing work then easily keep your legs on the leaning stool. If you see the wheels on the stool when making sure that the wheels are locked. You can use the stool by resting your weight on the seat and keep your feet on the floor.
  • Keep your wrists in a horizontal position. You have to hold your wrist in a straight line with your arms. Always try to avoid raising them above horizontal as this will help you to keep your arms away from wrist strains.

Part 3: Avoiding Fatigue

  • You have to keep an anti-fatigue mat under your feet. This will help you to reduce pressure on your feet.
  • Stretch throughout the day as you have to stretch your body regularly to increase your energy and keep stiffness away from your body.
  • Stand on your toes daily at least 30 seconds. Bend towards your feet to stretch your back. These will help your body to stay away from the body aches.
