One of the best ways to update the old furniture is to paint them and it is a relatively easier task in comparison with the other methods. All are required to follow the procedure keenly and systematically.

    Follow the simple steps below to update the old furniture with paint:
    1. Area Preparation: Get the drop cloth to lay down beneath the furniture piece to carry on the task. Ensure to work in the well-ventilated area.
    2. Remove Hardware: The second step is to remove all hardware from the furniture piece if any.
    3. Wood Filler: The chipped or cracked surface on the furniture need to be treated with the wood filler. Any excess must be removed by using the putty knife.
    4. Sanding: The furniture surface needs to be sanding with the help of an orbital sander in order to remove the old finish such as varnish or lacquer from its surface.
    5. Residue Removal: The sanding leftover must be removed by using the clean tack cloth.
    6. Primer: After surface cleaning apply the primer in smooth coats to the surface using a paintbrush. Alternatively, spraying primer over the surface will also do the job. Let it dry.
    7. Re- Sanding: Once the primer dries the surface needs to be re-sanded again with the help of the fine-grit sandpaper. Follow up by cleaning sanding residue using the tack cloth.
    8. Second Coat: The second coat of the primer is required to be applied and allow it to dry prior to applying the third coat. Smooth sanding in between the coats is recommended.
    9. Painting: Now the latex paint needs to be applied over the furniture in thin coats. Immediately, apply the second coat in long even strokes. The hard to reach is needed to be painted with the brush. Allow, The paint to dry.
    10. Second Coat Of Paint: Second coat of the paint need to be applied to the furniture after the six hours of the first coat and let it dry.
