Steps To Strip The Furniture Paint/Stain

The steps to strip the furniture are mentioned below:
  1. Tools: First of all get all the tolls that are needed for the stripping.
  2. Prepare The Furniture: Remove all the hardware like knobs, handles from the furniture, and use the drop cloth to cover the upholstery.
  3. Stripping Gel: Now fill a tin bucket with a Stripping gel like citristrip, and cover the hands with gloves that are chemical resistant as well as eye protection.
  4. Apply The Stripper: Use the old paint brush to coat each section gently, but dont saturate the whole section, let it remain on the furniture for atleast 30 minutes, then the old finish like the paint, varnish, etc will easily come off.
  5. Scrape: Now scrape off the paint or finish with the help of the plastic putty knife or with a sandpaper.
  6. Tiny Grooves: For the small spaces like corners, etc where stripping is not done by the knife or sandpaper use the Wired brushes which work awesome in tiny grooves.
  7. Second Coat: After that apply a second coat of the stripper, for the second coat use the old cloth to remove the left over residue.
  8. Mineral Spirits: The mineral spirits can be used to remove the rest residue, this can be applied after the stripping process.
  9. Sand: Once all the process are completed then user can go for sanding process, it will help to smooth the surface of the wood


How To Strip Furniture Wax?

The methods to remove the wax from the furniture are mentioned below:
  1. Scrub: One of the techniques is to scrub the wax with a solvent like a mineral spirit that will remove the wax barrier.
  2. White Vinegar: Simply mix the equal parts of the white vinegar with water, then dampen a soft lint-free cloth and wipe out the surface.
  3. Abrasive Cleaner: The other method is to use 1 cup of the white vinegar with 1 tablespoon of the cream of tartar to make the mixture of the natural abrasive cleaner. Dampen a soft cloth in the solution and wipe the furniture in the direction of the wood grains then rinse off with plain water.
