How To Stain Laminate Furniture: Easy Process To Stain

Easy Process To Stain Your Laminate Furniture

Laminated furniture can have a life span of about 5-7 years if cared properly but regular cleaning and proper care can also extend the life of you laminate furniture. In order to keep your laminate furniture up to date, you also need to stain this type of furniture after a short period of time. If you want to stain you furniture then here are the 7 quick & easy steps to perform this work:

7 Easy Steps For This Process

  • Always try to work in an area that is very well- ventilated in order to avoid any minor damage to your health, take a plastic container with a few inches of water(warm) and then add a few drops of dish soap to make a degreasing cleaning solution by yourself.
  • Once done, now wipe your laminate furniture down with the help of a soft rag dipped in your soapy water cleaning solution to clean away the grime, dirt & body oils from frequent handling or touching. Dry your laminate furniture surface off by using some clean, dry rags.
  • Next you need to sand the surface lightly of your laminated furniture just to disorganize it up a little to make the stain adhere more better. Do not over sand your laminate furniture, if you do this then it can easily permanently damage the thin layer laminate surface. Wipe your furniture down by using a tack cloth to remove any fine debris which comes after the sanding process.
  • Next, open the can of your polyurethane stain & stir it well by using the stir stick. Stir your polyurethane about every ten minutes to ensure that the color remains equally apportioned throughout the product.
  • Now it's time to dip your selected paintbrush into the polyurethane stain, covering about half to 3-quarters of an inch of bristles with polyurethane stain. Now, you need to brush the stain onto the surface of your laminate furniture, always try to work quickly to apply a thin, even coat of stain. Go in back & forth by using smooth and even strokes. Use the tip of your paintbrush to smooth out the finish.
  • Reload your brush with the polyurethane stain when required. Start brushing a few inches from where you left off your work before, carefully synthesize the new stain into what you heretofore brushed on.
  • Finally allow the first coat of polyurethane stain to dry completely according to the manufacturer's guidance. Apply each consecutive coat in the same way as you do before, allowing the 2nd stain to dry betwixt each coat. Apply as many coats as required to get the color which you want, typically betwixt 3 and 5 coats. Once done, now let all the coats dry for 1 complete day before using your laminate furniture.
