Staining lighter wood cabinets into the darker one is an easy task but it is important to know that what kind of the sealer is used on the cabinets to proceed further this can be done by a sparkling little amount of the water on the cabinets if it is absorbed by the cabinet then it is not sealed and if it remains on its surface than it is sealed.

How To Stain Wood Kitchen Cabinets Darker?

Prior proceeding to the steps it must be noted that it is very important to know what sealer has been used on the cabinets. If the cabinets are treated with polyurethane then there is no need to strip it but if any other sealant is used then it needs to be completely stripped off. One more thing should also be taken into account is that prior using any stain it’s important to perform the test.
1.Remove Hardware: Before staining kitchen cabinets darker make sure to remove all hardware and drawers. Avoid sanding of the unsealed kitchen cabinets.
2.With Sealer: Sand the cabinets using 220-grit sandpaper if they are treated with the polyurethane sealer.
3.Other Than Polyurethane: The surfaces treated with the sealer other than Polyurethane needs to be prepared using both chemical strippers and sandpaper.
4.Apply: Once the surface is prepared to vacuum and make it clean finely from all the residue.
5.Stain: The stain must be applied using a rag cloth and follow by painting the shading varnish as per the instructions labeled.
6.Dry: Allow the cabinets to dry prior to sealing and reattach the removed hardware and other parts back to the cabinets.

How To Stain Bathroom Oak Cabinets Darker Without Sanding?

The steps to stain bathroom cabinets darker without sanding are mentioned below:
1.Remove Parts And Hardware: As said above as well before staining ensure to remove all hardware and other parts like drawers.
2.Wipe: Use a wet cloth to remove all the dust and dirt from the cabinets.
3.Sanding: Sand the surface slightly to make it even.
4.Tack Cloth: Remove all the sanding leftover using tack cloth.
5.Gel Stain: The gel stain needs to be applied using foam brush over the bathroom cabinets, Apply the stain in the grain direction. Let the first coat dry to apply the second one.
6.Dry: Let the cabinet dry for 24 hours and follow up by adding two more coats as a top coat to get the lustrous finish.

Laminate

Here are the steps to stain the laminate furniture:
1.Prepare Solutions: Fill the bucket with warm water and mix a little amount of the liquid dish soap into it and stir it.
2.Soft Rag: Dip the soft rag into the soapy solution and rub the entire laminate surface with it to clean it. Follow up by drying it with using dry cloth rag.
3.Sand: Sand the surface of laminate smoothly by avoiding over sanding and wipe the residue using a clean soft cloth.
4.Polyurethane Stain: The cabinets need to be finished with the polyurethane stain but before using the polyurethane stain stir it well using stir sticks.
5.Apply: Apply the stain using the paint brush. The thin and even stain coats are required to get the best results.
6.Dry: The first coat requires to be dried properly prior to applying the second coat or further coats. The stain coats can be applied multiple times until the desired results are achieved.
