How To Stagger Vinyl Plank Flooring: Steps & Items Needed

Steps & Items Needed To Stagger Vinyl Plank Flooring

The users can easily stagger the vinyl plank flooring by following the below-mentioned steps after collecting the certain items required for the procedure:

Items Required

  • Measuring Tape
  • Speed Square
  • Utility Knife
  • Carpet Shears

Steps

  • Step 1: The users need to start by snipping off the topmost one inch over corner sticky trip from the surface of the first plank and then again clip off the one inch over the corner of the sticky strip from the rightmost side of the vinyl plank. By clipping off the adhesive strips will prevent the vinyl plank from slanting towards the sides of the wall and offers the smooth and even surface of the floor.
  • Step 2: Then they need to place the first plank over the surface of the floor and start from the right-sided edge of the room by placing the visual sticky tongue of the vinyl plank facing outwards to the room. Then they need to align the vinyl plank up to the 1/8 inch space at the topmost and to the right side of the vinyl plank. Then the users need to place one more vinyl plank of the full thickness in this row.
  • Step 3: Then they need to place the measuring tape over the right side of the new vinyl plank and the users need to calculate the 2/3rd of this vinyl plank and then mark down the vinyl vertical line by using the pencil. As most of the planks are near about 36 inches in length and that is why the users need to calculate the twenty-four inches towards the downside of the vinyl plank and then mark down all the measurements by using the pencil.
  • Step 4: Then they need to place the T-square or the speed square in a way that the tool top will lie over the plank top and the tool corners will rest upon the pencil line. Then they need to gently press the tool over the surface of the plank so that the speed square won't shift further. Then they need to gently score the line by using the utility knife from the marked pencil line down to the thickness of the vinyl plank and then use the speed square as the guideline in trimming down the straight cut. The users are advised to gently score the marked lines for a few minutes and then lift the plank upwards and then gently break the vinyl plank at the scored line.
  • Step 5: Then the users need to place the 2/3rd vinyl planks over the surface of the floor as following the first plank process in the next row. Then they need to let the 1/8 inch towards its right side of the plank and then affix the vinyl plank in the first row by applying the pressure to the sticky strips so as to keep it together. Then place one more vinyl plank of the full thickness in the next row as well.
  • Step 6: Then the users need to again place the measuring tape over the rightmost side of the new vinyl plank and then calculate 1/3rd inch of this new vinyl plank as well and then mark down the tiny vertical line by using the pencil. If in case the Vinyl plank is almost 36 inches in length and then measure it again and mark down the new plank to almost twelve inches. Then they need to gently score the line by using the utility knife again from the marked pencil line down to the thickness of the vinyl plank and then use the speed square as the guideline in trimming down the straight cut. The users are advised to gently score the marked lines for a few minutes and then lift the plank upwards and then gently break the vinyl plank at the scored line respectively and then install this trimmed plank in the 3rd row.
  • Step 7: Then, at last, the users need to place the extra vinyl planks of the full thickness to the 1st and to the 2nd rows and keep on measuring and trimming the vinyl planks and keep on installing the vinyl planks in the staggered rows.
