Easy Steps To Spray Paint Over Chrome Furniture

The chrome furniture looks great in our homes and outdoor areas such as garden and poolside area but sometimes this kind of furniture will look old and rusty after a short period of time and in that case you definitely need to refinish it. The most important portion of the chrome furniture painting project is the sanding process because good sanding can remove the smooth chrome finish, and allowing the fresh paint and primer to connect to the metal for a professional finish. Here are some quick and easy steps to spray paint over your chrome furniture, simply follow the given steps carefully to finish your task without wasting precious time.

Safety Tips

  • Always work in an area that is well-ventilated, also remember to cover the surrounding area and items with newspaper or with other sheets.
  • Always try to wear long pants and long sleeves, this will keep your arms and hands safe from paint and any other sing damage.
  • Also wear rubber gloves on your hands and wear shoes to keep your hands and feet safe.
  • Wear eye goggle to protect your precious eyes from any damage.

Steps For This Process:

  1. Sand: If your furniture is fully covered by chrome then sand the entire furniture with sandpaper, if not then you only need to sand the chrome area of your furniture. Sand your chrome furniture slowly. If only some parts of your furniture are chrome then cover the remaining area with the painter's tape because this will protect your furniture from getting any type of damage.
  2. Wipe: Once done, now wipe the sanded chrome furniture areas with the help of a damp cloth to remove the dust which comes after the sanding process. Replace any losses in painter's tape that was ripped during sanding process with new painter's tape strips so that your chrome furniture is still secure for the next painting process.
  3. Paint: Now, apply a coat of primer with a spray paint can chrome furniture areas which are sanded before. Now, let the primer dry for at least 24-27 hours before applying a fresh coat of your colored paint.
  4. Apply: Once your first coat of prime is dried fully now, apply a fresh coat of colored paint to the prime & sanded chrome areas of your chrome furniture and then let the first coat of colored paint dry for nearly 12-15 hours and then you can apply the 2nd coat of colored paint. Again allow the 2nd coat to fully dry for 12-15 hours before using your chrome furniture again.
