Steps & Items Needed For Making A Slipcover For An Ottoman

The ottoman is one of the types of couch furniture that is mostly having a square or semicircular shape. The ottoman usually has the head but no back and it can be used as stool or footstool. The other names of the ottoman are hassock and the pouffe. The seat of the ottoman is upholstered that needs the protection from dust, stains and from getting damaged. In order to protect an Ottoman, the slipcover is a good idea. Here are some steps to make a slipcover for an ottoman along with the items needed for the process. The users need to follow the given steps carefully.

Items Needed

  1. Fabric.
  2. Sewing Machine.
  3. Thread.
  4. Velcro.


Steps

  1. Measurement: The first step to make slipcover is to measure all the 4 sides of the ottoman with measuring tape. Leave 2 inches fabric extra for the corners of the ottoman.
  2. Cut: Now cut the fabric into various pieces perfectly according to the taken size of the ottoman. The wrong measurement will waste the fabric.
  3. Sew Top Piece: Now sew all the top pieces of the fabric according to the pattern of the ottoman with a small needle in the sewing machine.
  4. Sew The Bottom: Start sewing the bottom part of the ottoman fabric.
  5. Attach Velcro: Finally fold the bottom and panel of the ottoman fabric for 1 inch. Now pin the strip of Velcro on the corners with hot glue in the glue gun.
