  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Wood Dowel 1-Inch Diameter, Optional
  • Clear-Drying Glue

Steps

  • Firstly, measure your window or wall for a new length of the blind, measure the circumference of the bottom rail on your blind, and then add 8 1/2 inches to the blind length for the new cut blind length.
  • Next cut dowel length equal to the width of your blind less 1/2 inch. The extra inches added to your blind cut length are necessary for reattaching the bottom rail on it. If the bamboo blind does not allow for this much excess, you may need to eradicate the rail.
  • Next you need to lay your blinds on any flat table, bottommost edge towards you. Next, move carrier cords off your blinds but don't remove from pulleys.
  • The cord will self-adjust to the length of your blind when you re-hang. Measure the top of the blind to the necessary length, plus 1/2 inch & placemarks across your blind at this measurement.
  • The extra 1/2 inch is ease alimony that allows your blind to sit tightly on to the window sill.
  • Measure from top of your blind & place a mark on the connecting cords of your blind at the cut length. Place individual marks across the width of your blind.
  • Cut each cord across your blind on your blind cut-length marks. Start at one edge and ship the connecting cords betwixt your slats. This removes the section of blind below the cut-length mark.
  • Now, remove your bottom slats on your blind up to the necessary length marks. Start at one side of your blind & work your way across, loosen the cords across the blind to release each slat, removing the bottom slat first, and working on one row at a time.
  • The adhere cords are in pairs, they twist around each other betwixt each slat, take care to unwind them as you remove the slats. Do not slide your slats out of the binding cords, this will leave the cords twisted together.
  • Remove any cords and unnecessary slats from your bottom rail. It will be re-attached.
  • Detach the pairs of adhering cords so the back-side cord is flat to your table & the front-side cord lays on the blind itself, away from your bottom edge.
  • Lay the bottom rail or your wood dowel on blinds back-side cords, wrap the front & back-side cords around the headrail in antithesis directions & tie the cords together along the bottom edge of your rail.
  • Trim your extra cords & place a dot of clear-drying glue on the knot to farther secure it.
  • If you eradicate the bottom rail, tie the cords together along the bottom edge of the blind & secure the knots with dots of glue.
