Step By Step Guide And The Materials Required To Seal Slate Floors

The slate stone is having the natural resistance towards the external elements and usually, the slate floors can be exposed to the moisture, abrasion as well. Step 1: Select And Buy The Sealer

Start by buying the penetrating sealer that is specifically crafted for the natural stones containing the silicone content. This kind of sealer gets penetrated on the pores of the stones for the soft adhesion and then binds up the pores by its formulation of the silicone. If in case the grout of the tile is not sealed then the users need to buy a kind of sealer that can seal the grout and the tiles as well. The users can also select the brush or the spray type. The brush type can easily be applied by using the roller or the paintbrush and this sealant kind is less expensive than the spray type.

Step 2: Clean The Surface

Then the users need to detach the furnishing or other items that cover up the surface of the floor. If in case the users are having the newly installed flooring of the slate then they need to clean up the floor surface by using the mild soap and the water. Then mop down the floor and then rinse down the soap studs. Then allow the floor to get dried off completely. Step 4: Apply The Sealer

If in case the users are having the plan to paint down their tiles, then they need to buy the acrylic stain as per their desired color and then apply it over the entire surface of the floor. Then allow the paint to get dried off completely for almost 2 days so that the user can easily seal the tiles. Then the users need to use their desired sealer type and then evenly apply the sealer to the entire surface of the floor and then let it dry completely before applying the second layer of the sealer. Then allow the sealer to get dried off completely before walking over it respectively.
