How To Sanitize Laminate Floors: Steps To Sanitize

Steps To Sanitize Laminate Floors

Sanitize is a term used to disinfect or clean laminate flooring in order to make it hygienic. There are several products available in the market specifically designed to sanitize the laminate flooring. Besides that, the user can sanitize laminate flooring with a homemade solution consisting of vinegar & water. The steps to sanitize laminate flooring with the homemade solution are as follows;
  1. Remove Dust & Dirt: The basic step will be to remove dirt & dust from the laminate flooring. First, the user needs to sweep the flooring with a dust mop and then wipe it down with a damp rag or mop. It is necessary to remove the excess water from the rag or mop before wipe down as excess water can damage the laminate flooring.
  2. Prepare Solution: The next step will be to prepare a homemade solution by mixing 1/4 cup = 60 ml of white vinegar and 30-32 Oz = 900-940 ml of water in a spray bottle. It has been recommended to shake the bottle well until the ingredients get combined. The alternate solution will be the mixture of 1/3 cup = 80 ml of vinegar, 1 gallon = 4 liters of water, and 3 squirts of dish detergent.
  3. Spray Solution: Once the solution is ready, the user needs to spray it over the dry & clean laminate flooring in small sections. The user needs not to spray the solution at once over the entire flooring as the solution has to be wiped immediately before it affects the protective coating of the laminate flooring.
  4. Wipe Up The Solution: Once the solution is sprayed over a small section, the user needs to wipe it up immediately with a damp terry cloth, microfiber cloth, or sponge mop. It has been recommended to wring out the excess moisture from the cloth or mop before using it over the flooring for solution wipe down.
  5. Dry The Flooring: The last step will be to soak all the large amount of water left over the flooring with a dry microfiber cloth. If the flooring carries a small amount of leftover water, the user can leave it to air dry as it will not damage the laminate.
