How To Reweb A Lawn Chair: Steps To Reweb A Lawn/Patio Chair

What Are The Steps To Reweb A Lawn/Patio Chair?

After years of use and exposure to different weather conditions, the lawn chair webbing becomes stretched and faded that makes the chair unsafe for use. The webbing of a lawn chair is attached to aluminum frames by the use of pop rivets or screws that makes the webbing easy to replace. The steps to follow in order to Reweb a lawn chair are as follows:
  1. Measurement:
First, the user needs to measure the existing webbing of a lawn chair in order to determine how much webbing is required for the process. Webbing usually comes in rolls with 39 feet length and if there are no new screws present in the package, the user needs to purchase galvanized sheet-metal screws and washers for the process as well.
  2. Discard The Existing Webbing:
The next step will be to remove the existing webbing of the lawn chair. Some chairs have webbing attached with pop rivets which the user can remove by drilling the rivets using the smallest drill bit. In order to attach new webbing, the user can replace pop rivets with screws.
  3. Cut New Webbing:
After that, the user needs to cut the new webbing according to the length of the existing webbing or by taking a measurement of the lawn chair frame to determine the cut length. The user needs to cut the new webbing by adding an extra two inches to it so that the ends can be folded while attaching.
  4. Reweb The Chair Seat:
The next step will be to Reweb the chair by starting at the back of the chair seat. The user needs to lay the new webbing across the seat and attach it to the bottom of the frame. It has been recommended to use a washer on each screw and the user needs to make sure that he folds the ends before driving screws inside the frame. The user needs to repeat the step in order to Reweb the entire seat width and during the process, he needs to pull the webbing firmly rather than tightly.
  5. Reweb The Chair Seat In & Out:
The next step will be to Reweb the chair starting at the front by attaching a new webbing that will weave in and out of the already attached webbing and runs from front to back across the chair width. The webbing should be attached to the back of the chair and the user needs to continue the step till the entire seat webbing is properly placed.
  6. Repeat The Steps To Reweb The Back:
The seat Rewebbing steps need to be repeated on the entire back of the chair as well till the whole lawn chair gets new webbing.
