Steps To Reupholster A Recliner Chair

  1. Measure Out Patterns: For the easy stitching make sure to take the accurate measurements. Label each part of the recliner that will be helpful in reassembling.
  2. Bottom Half Of The Recliner: Pull Out The bottom half of the recliner by removing the lever under the recliner, unscrew it then pull it out. Then start seam ripping the seat cushions.
  3. Sewing: Apply the fabric glue to the design and put it on its respective area of the recliner, this process will help to keep the fabric down and tight to avoid it from moving around. Now Begin stitching the fabric onto the recliner, while stitching please make sure that the stitches are spaced. Use the pliers to push and pull the thread, So that it will go through the seat properly.
  4. Reassemble: Now correctly reassemble the recliner again as it was previously.


How To Reupholster A Wingback Recliner Chair?

  1. Staple: First of all take out all the staples by using the needle nose pliers, and remove the old fabric.
  2. Upholstery: Lay the new upholstery on the removed pieces and cut accordingly.
  3. Batting: Now cover the chair with the batting, in case the extra padding is needed. Now take the new upholstery piece that was cut and drape it over the right place.
  4. Backside: Now Pull the top over to the backside of the chair and by using the staple gun secure it to the wood. Follow the same process for the pieces of sides and bottom of the chair back. Trim of any excess fabric.
  5. Arms: Drape the fabric over the arms, folding 1/3 of the fabric forward where the arm meets the back then staple it to the wooden frame. At the top of the arm where the fabric is folded, find the center and cut a slit, which is all the way to the end of the fold.
