Procedure To Reupholster A Chair With Nailheads

Using nailheads to reupholster a chair gives the normal chair an accent look. In order to reupholster a chair with nailheads, the user needs to follow the below-given procedure:
  1. Remove Old Fabric:
First, the user needs to remove the old fabric from the chair for which he has to take off the staples from the back and bottom of the chair. The screwdriver can be used to take off staples from the chair. Alternatively, the user can cut the old fabric from the chair by using a utility knife.
  2. Replace Foam:
After that, the user needs to check the condition of the foam underneath the fabric. If there is some foam that is not in good shape, the user needs to replace it by using a spray adhesive. It has been recommended by the experts to press the new foam over the spray adhesive of the back and seat. The excess foam needs to be trimmed by using a utility knife.
  3. Attach Batting:
The next step will be to attach batting over the foam. First, the user needs to spray a light coat of adhesive over the foam and place batting all over it. After that, the user needs to let the adhesive dry for about 15 seconds before trimming the excess batting with a pair of scissors.
  4. Cut The New Fabric:
After that, the user needs to cut the new fabric by taking the old fabric as a template. Alternatively, the user can lay the new fabric over the chair and trace its shape on to the new fabric and mark it with chalk. It has been recommended by the experts to mark the fabric at places where the fabric will fit the back and seat of the chair. Once the new fabric is marked, the user needs to cut it by leaving an extra 1/8 inch of fabric around the measurement.
  5. Reupholster A Chair:
The next step will be to start reupholstering a chair. First, the user needs to tuck under the extra 1/8 inch of fabric around and use an iron to flatten the edges. Then, the user needs to place the fabric over the chair and affix it around at a place by using few staples.
  6. Use Nailheads:
The last step in the procedure is to tap nailheads around the edges of the chair by using a hammer. It has been recommended by the experts to leave a constant gap between each nailhead in order to give the chair an elegant look.
