Restoring the hardwood flooring is an easy task and involves a little bit of sanding and finishing with the polyurethane finish using certain steps that can be done using proper techniques.

Steps To Redo/Refinish The Hardwood Floors

Easy steps to redo/ refinish the hardwood floors are mentioned below:
1.Cleaning: Cleaning a hardwood floor is necessary to step before redo or refinishing job. All is needed to create the solution using the white vinegar with water and apply this solution on the hardwood floor using terry cloth wrapped with the mop.
2.Sanding Floor: Once the floor dries follow by sanding using the 180-grit sandpaper and sand continuously till the old finish completely vanishes and turns into the powdered form. Using the sanding block must be avoided as it may cause spots on the hardwood.
3.Buffer: Use buffer on the surface of the floor in wood grain direction and cover the entire floor. Make sure to stop the buffer after every five minutes to clean the pad.
4.Vacuum: Once the buffering is done let the powder set on the floor for 10 to 15 minutes and once the waiting time is done use vacuum to clean the floor. The vacuuming must be done according to the flooring strips to remove the entire powdered residue.
5.Wipe: Use the microfiber cloth to wipe off the entire floor in the grain direction.
6.Finishing: Take the finish and pour it into the plastic container and apply using the brush over the baseboards and allow it to dry for ten minutes.
7.Roll Out: Apply the finish with the help of the long-handled roller in the grain direction. Try to spread the finish evenly throughout the floor within ten minutes covering edges as well. Once the hardwood floor is completely covered and let it dry for approximately 3 hours.
8.Recoat: Recoating of the floor is recommended after the 3 hours is completed.
9.Note: Furnish the room with furniture after week once the hardwood floor is refinished.

Ways To Resurface/Fix The Old Wood Floors Without Sanding

Easy ways to resurface/fix the wood floors without sanding are mentioned below:
1.Vacuum: Deeply vacuum the entire flooring to remove all dirt and debris built up.
2.Chemical Stripper: Once the floor is deeply cleaned, application of chemical stain stripper over the wood floor is required. The stripper must be applied with the help of the paintbrush or roller.
3.Wait: Once the stripper is applied let it sit on the floor for nearly two to three hours.
4.Scrapping: Get scraper in order to scrape the floor. The scrapping must be done smoothly so that the surface will not get damaged. The scraping must be done in the direction of the grain.
5.Varnish: Once the scraping is done let it dry for the night prior to applying the varnish or the stain.
6.Re-apply: Reapply the varnish or stain over the floor once dried with the help of the paint brush. Double coats recommended getting satisfactory results.
7.Dry: Let the wood floor dry completely before furnishing it with the furniture again.
