How To Restore Danish Teak Furniture: Steps

What Are The Steps To Restore Danish Teak Furniture?

  1. Cleaning: Begin with cleaning the furniture, perform the cleaning process with a clean cloth or a stiff bristle brush, and a mild wood cleaner. This process will help to remove all the dust, dirt and grime. After using the wood cleaner the furniture should be left to dry.
  2. Disassemble: The next step is to disassemble the furniture.
  3. Stripping Strip the current finish from the furniture, apply chemical stripper in an even coat with a paintbrush, then allow it to dry, and use a paint scraper to scrape the stripper off.
  4. Sanding: Once the stripping is done the next step is to go for the sanding process, don't sand the furniture too hard as it can damage the furniture, and sand along with the directions of the grains.
  5. Oiling And Finishing: Now apply the best quality teak oil like linseed oil, tung oil, etc. These oils are waterproof and do not darken the wood, simply apply teak oil to all of the furniture parts and pieces in an even coat with a paintbrush and wait about five to seven minutes between the coats.
