How To Repair Venetian Blinds: Two Easy Methods

The main benefit of the Venetian blinds is that you have enough flexibility to turn them so you can easily see through them, you can also close your blinds or you can also pull them up to the top of your window and will also expose your entire window to view. If your Venetian blinds are locked open so turning its tilting rod doesn't change your Venetian blinds from open to the closed position, it's presumably that your tilting rod has come loose on the inside of your Venetian blinds. If your Venetian blinds are stuck at its top then don't worry because there is an easy solution to help your blinds lower again easily.

Two Easy Methods To Repair Venetian Blinds

If you want to repair your Venetian blinds then you need to grab a screwdriver and follow the given two easy methods. Here are the two easy methods and steps to repair you Venetian blinds:

Method 1: Open Slats

  1. First of all, you need to remove the valance from the top of your blinds. This is ordinarily held on by plastic clips and will pop free very easily. Tug on each end to release your valance.
  2. Next you need to lift the top of your Venetian blind mechanism from its brackets and then lay it on a flat surface table. But you need to be careful not to get any slats & cords tangled or broken while you move your blinds.
  3. Now its time to pull the end cap off the side of your blinds closest to the tilting rod because this is the rod that you turn to open and close the slats on the Venetian blinds.
  4. Next, see inside and then locate the tilting mechanism. The mechanism should be a metal rod that runs the length of your blinds. Now, push up on your tilting rod from the outside of your blinds until you see that it is connected with the indoor tilting mechanism.
  5. Push the end cap back in place and hang the blinds in the brackets. Replace the valance by pushing on each end until it will pop back into actual place.

Method 2: Stuck At Top

  1. First of all, you need to remove your valance and then take your blinds off your brackets. Lay your blinds on a flat surface table.
  2. Now you need to pull off your end cap closest to your string that raises and lowers your Venetian blinds. Look inside for finding the gears that grip your cords which is holding your blinds in your suitable position.
  3. Next you need to hold your blinds up and then pull your cords to ensure that the gear mechanism is now working properly. If you see that the gear is still not working properly then you need to add a few more drops of your oil and try again this step.
  4. Finally you need to place your blinds back in your brackets and push your valance in the actual place. Pull your cords toward the inside of your blinds to release the gears mechanism and then allow your blinds to lower to your window sill to close them. Release your cords and finish your work.

Tips For This Process

  1. Tip 1: If you see that the tilting rod is attached to the gear mechanism but still it doesn't work then you have to replace your Venetian blinds. Also, if you lubricate your gears mechanism but the blinds still won't lower then you may need to replace the blinds gear assembly.
  2. Tip 2: You need to know that some of the end caps are held in place with the help of some small screws. Unscrew all the screws, then remove the blind's end cap and then you need to secure the cap with the help of the screws when you've finished your repairing process.
