A wide variety of wood putties, patches, epoxies, and fillers can do this job easily. If you are facing the same problem with your door frame then this article is for you because you can fix your problem by following the given steps below. Collect the given items and then follow all the given steps.

Items Needed

  • Wire Brush
  • Putty Knife
  • Vacuum With Brush Attachment
  • Wood Filler, Spackle, Epoxy, Or Other Filling Compound
  • Wood Stain, Optional
  • Fine-Grit Sandpaper
  • Stain Marker Or Paint And Paintbrush

Steps For This Process

  1. First, you need to scrape any splinters & flaking paint out of the damaged area of your door frame with the help of a wire brush. Use the corner of a blade(putty knife) to rake out any stubborn scraps or lumps scraps. Vacuum the frame using the vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove any dust or dirt.
  2. Next, mix or soften your chosen filler according to the instructions of the product. This may associate with kneading it until it softens, stirring it until it begins to harden or mixing 2 substances all together until the consolidation reaches a uniform color. If your door frame is stained instead than painted & the filler accepts stain when wet but not after it is torrid, mix in small quantities of stain until your filler matches your door frame. Here is an example, when you're using plastic wood, stain it during the mixing process.
  3. Now, apply the prepared filler to your putty knife. Scrape it into the damaged section of your door frame. If you are going to fill a deep hole then you need to force the filler further into the cavity with the flat of your putty knife blade and then scrape the filler smooth with the edge of your putty blade. Make a 2nd stroke orthogonal to your first stroke, smoothing the surface & removing any excess filler.
  4. Allow your filler to dry completely. If it shrinks as it torrid or the 1st layer wasn't satisfactory to fill the imperfection, apply the 2nd coat in the same way as you do before. Overfill the depression marginally, so even if your filler shrinks, it still fills the depression. Let this dry wholly before following the next step.
  5. Sand the surface of your door frame lightly with sandpaper(fine-grit) until the frame surface is smooth & level. Fill any other inadequacy in the same way. Touch up the repaired spots with matching paint or wood-stain marker.
