Steps To Repair Chair/furniture Sagging Seat Springs

The steps to repair a chair spring are mentioned below:
  1. First of all tip the chair upside down to find the screws that pass through the frame.
  2. Place the chair pan upside down then pull out the staples that hold the fabric with a staple remover, then remove the fabric to reveal the spring that is beneath the fabric.
  3. Remove the metal bracket that is fixed on the side of the chair frame, and then remove the spring with screwdriver.
  4. Bring the bracket back into the shape with help of pliers so that the other bracket can be assembled and then make a hole with a drill through each of the wing.
  5. After that Hook a large C-clamp onto the spring it can be hooked to any of the coils that are close to bracket.
  6. Slowly Tighten the clamp until the spring is stretched and bracket touches the side of the frame, put the wood screw in each hole.
  7. Now stretch the light fabric back to the bottom of the chair and staple it at the right place with stapler.

Warning: Chair springs are stretched very tight, So Be careful while fixing the spring and make sure that the clamp doesn't slip off because the Springs can have sharp ends.

How To Fix Squeaky Chair Springs?

  1. Move The Chair: First of all tilt the chair so that the bottom of the chair is exposed and then with flashlight try to locate the springs and metal parts that are rubbing against each other.
  2. Lubricant: After finding the spot spray the mineral oil, but do not spray lubricant on the chair's rivets, in case of the extra lubricant remove with cloth.
  3. Dry: Allow the lubricant to dry for almost 20 to 30 minutes, then place the chair to its normal position, then sit and check for squeaking, if the problem still exists repeat the process.
