Steps To Repair Leather Furniture/Couch/sofa/Upholstery/ From Cat Scratches

The steps to fix leather Couch/Sofa/Furniture which has been scratched by the Cat are as follows:
  1. Cleaning:
    Before starting the repair process, the user needs to prepare the scratched area by thoroughly cleaning the leather using Ultra Leather Cleaner. The cleaning will remove any grime & dirt from the scratched area.
  2. Trim Loose Fibers:
    Then the user needs to trim loose fibers from the scratched area using sharp scissors. He can cut down only longer fibers as shorter fibers will not affect the repairing process.
  3. Apply Leather Binder:
    The next step will be to apply a leather binder coat on the scratched area using a sponge. The user needs to rub it directly on to the damaged area and let the coat dry up. He needs to repeat the procedure until he completes 8-10 coats which is beneficial for a strong & durable repair.
  4. Sanding:
    Then the user needs to sand the area in order to create an even & smooth surface. The sandpaper recommended for the job is 1200 grit.
  5. Remove Residue & Apply Heavy Filler:
    In the next step, the residue from sanding must be wiped out. Then, the user can apply a heavy filler on to the scratched area using a palette knife. He needs to let the filler dry up for 20-25 minutes. If required, the user can apply another coat of heavy filler.
  6. Sand Again & Remove Residue:
    The next step will be to sand down the whole area again using 1200 grit sandpaper. After that, remove residue from the area using an alcohol cleaner.
  7. Apply Colorant Coat:
    As the Alcohol cleaner dries up, the user needs to apply a coat of Colorant using a sponge on to the half-repaired area. The user can repeat the process from applying the filler to applying the Colorant in order to heal all scratch marks.
  8. Apply Lacquer Finish:
    The last step will be to apply the lacquer finish on to the leather in order to seal the color in.
