Easy Steps To Repair/Fix The Faux Leather Sofa

The faux leather sofas are less expensive than the real ones and they are also easier to get cleaned off than the real ones. The faux leather sofas are much prone to get cracked or peeled off easily and that can be treated easily as well. The users can easily repair the faux leather sofa at home by following the below-mentioned steps:
  • Gather The Material And Tools: The users need to start by gathering the materials and the items that they require while performing this procedure like a mini foam roller, soft cloths, latex paint, soft brush, paste wax and the baby powder as well.
  • Sand Down The Loose Fibers: Then they need to sand down or peel off the loose fibers of the faux leather as the faux leather materials usually peel off like the paint chips. If in case this happens the users need to peel off the entire loose debris at the base and at the top of the layer of the fabric. Then they need to use the sanding sponge so as to smooth down the unfinished circular corners and the bubbles as well.
  • Apply The Latex Paint: Then they need to apply the thin layer of the latex paint and then allow the paint to get dried off completely. In order to create the smooth finish then they need to pour the latex paint in the tray and then apply the paint by using the paint roller made of the foam. The users are advised not to move forward until the paint won't get dried off completely and it can take almost 2-3 hours.
  • Sand Down The Paint Layer: Then the users need to gently sand down the paint and then clean up the dust. They need to use the sponge or the sandpaper and then gently move it all over the surface of the couch till the users won't feel the smooth surface and then clean up the dust by using the microfiber cloth.
  • Repeat The Sanding And Painting Process: The users need to repeat the sanding and the painting process for almost four times as each time the users will apply the latex paint layer, they will fill up the unprotected backing and when they sand the paint layer they will smooth down the elevated bumps and that is why they need to repeat the process.
  • Buff The Paint By Wax: Then they can buff down the painted surface of the couch by using the paste wax till the surface of the couch won't feel smooth as this is the most important step as this will act as the sealant and will prevent the paint layer from getting sticky. The users need to simply apply the paste and then rub it all over the couch area and then clean it up by using the soft cloth. Keep on buffing till the wax is completely absorbed in it. The wax will need almost twenty minutes to get dried off.
  • Use The Baby Powder: Finally the users need to sprinkle the baby powder over the waxed layer as this will keep the wax set and will make it dry faster. The users need to use the brush so as to apply the baby powder and then wait for almost 5 minutes so that the powder will absorb the wax and then clean off the excess powder.
