3 Easy Parts & Items Needed To Repaint The Wood Burning Stove

Part I- Preparing The Surface

  • Step 1: Start by detaching all the oil and the other debris particles from the stove surface. Then wear eye protection and the hand gloves as well before starting to pour few drops of the trisodium phosphate over the soft rag and rub it over the entire surface of the stove. The users also need to use the wire brush so as to clean up the heavy debris particles and clean all the remaining residue by using the clean rag.
  • Step 2: Then the users need to clean up the excess oil by using the lacquer item so as to get rid of the oily stains over the surface of the stove. Pour few drops of the lacquer over the rag and rub it over the stove and then use the soft cloth to clean up the residue accordingly.
  • Step 3: Use the fine-grit sandpaper and rub it over the entire surface of the stove so as to get rid of the chipped paint. Keep on sanding the stove surface until the users won't achieve the smooth finish.

Part II-Painting The Stove

  • Step 1: The users need to start by preparing the can spray and to do so they need to shake the spray can continuously for about two minutes. By stirring the can the paint will get distributed evenly. Test the spray paint by spraying it over the surface of the newspaper for almost two seconds. If the users find out that the paint stream that comes out from the can in a good way then they need to understand that the paint is ready to get applied over the stove.
  • Step 2: Then apply the paint over the entire surface of the wood stove but the users are advised to wear down the hand gloves and the eye protection so as to protect themselves from the hazardous chemicals.
  • Step 3: Then the users need to hold the can spray at near about twelve inches far from the wood surface. They need to follow the sweeping motion so as to wrap up the specified area with one complete paint stoke. The users are advised not to block the nozzle of the spray can while painting and avoid applying the paint in round directions as this won't allow the paint to get distributed evenly on the surface of the woodstove.
  • Step 4: Once the paint is applied to the entire surface of the wood stove the users then need to allow the paint to get dried off completely before using it again.

Part III-Curing The Paint

  • Step 1: In order to cure the paint of the woodstove, the users need to apply the heat to the stove. Turn the heat on of the stove and allow the temperature to raise up to 250 degrees for almost twenty minutes. After the 20 minutes, the users need to switch off the heat and then let the wood stove to get cooled down completely.
  • Step 2: The users are advised to repeat the heating process by turning the heat on and allowing the temperature to raise up to 250 degrees for almost twenty minutes. Then switch off the heat accordingly and allow it to get cooled down one more time.
  • Step 3: At last, the users are advised to re-heat the stove for the third time but this time the temperature should raise up to 450 degrees and keep the same temperature for almost forty-five minutes accordingly. Then after the forty-five minutes, the users need to turn off the heat from the woodstove and let it cool down completely.
