How To Remove Window Blind Slats: Easy Steps To Get Rid Of Blind Slats

Blind is a type of covering on the window. It is made up of horizontal and vertical types of hard material that include wood, plastic, and metal. If you want to hang the window blinds in the interior where your window opening is, then you have to cut the blinds but remember first you need to mark it with the help of a marker. You can reduce the extra length by removing its extra slats with the help of scissors and you have to wait to hang the blinds first then check and remove the extra slats.

Easy Steps To Get Rid Of Window Blind Slats

If you want to remove blind slats then you just need to take a scissor and then follow all the given items. Here are the steps for this process:
  1. First of all, you need to release the lift cord of the window blinds to lower the cord wholly. Assuming that the blinds are longer than the height of your windows, the bottom rail of your window blinds will hang past your windowsill.
  2. Check underside for the bottom rail for small and round plastic plugs, 2-3 depends on the width of your window blind. Now you need to pry the plugs from the bottom rail with the help of your hand.
  3. Next, lift your window blind slats with your one hand while you have to hold the plugin with your other hand because this will easily expose your lift cord and will also allow you to slide the plug up the cord to expose a small knot in your cord.
  4. Then you need to use scissors for cutting your lift cord straight above the knot. Pull the plug off the cut end of your lift cord and then you have to set it aside. Repeat this process for all the remaining plugs.
  5. Now allow your window blind slats to hang willingly. Next, pull bottom rail from the string ladder and set it aside.
  6. Grasp your lift cords of the window blinds and then pull them out of each slat until you reach the final slat that will now represent the bottom of the window blinds. Pull the slats you want to remove from the string ladder.
  7. Now you need to strand the bottom rail back through with the string ladder straight below your bottom slat. Be sure that the bottom rail rests on your string ladder rung below your bottom slat but not on the same rung as your bottom slat.
  8. Insert the lift cords in the bottom rail. Grasp the lift cords along the underside of your bottom rail & pull them through the rail. Leave the lift cords to hang from the underside of your bottom rail.
  9. Lift the bottom rail of the window blind and let it rest on your windowsill. Rotate the blinds so all the slats are open crosswise. Move the bottom rail from your windowsill, let the rail hang by your string ladder.
  10. Tie a round-arm knot at the bottom of each of your lift cord. Let the plastic plugs hang independently from the end of your lift cords. Pull your window blind cord as if you were raising your blinds until the plastic plugs touch the underside of your bottom rail.
  11. Cut your string ladder about 3 inches below your bottom rail. Cut the string rungs from your string ladder.
  12. Tie a quadrate knot in the 2 ends of each of your string ladder to hold them together perfectly. Stuff the knot in the plug openings along the underside of your bottom rail. Push the plugs attached to your lift cords into the openings.
