Best & Easy Methods To Get Rid Of The Wax From The Upholstery

It is not an easy task to remove the Wax stains, especially from upholstery. However, there are a number of methods that can be used to clean the wax. The best and simple methods are mentioned below:

Excess Wax

  1. Dry: The first step in case of the excess wax is to let the wax dry completely. If the user starts removing the wax before it has dried completely, then the wax may smear and will be more difficult to remove.
  2. Use Ice: Once the wax is fully dry, place an ice on it. Simply add a few of the ice cubes in a plastic sandwich bag and then apply it directly to the surface of the wax. The reason for chilling the wax will make the wax brittle as well as easier to chip away. If in case the wax is on the pillow or on removable fabric, that time put the fabric in the freezer for best results.
  3. Scrapping: After the above steps are done then its time to using a butter knife, and gently scrape the excess wax from the Upholstery. However, the user needs to be very careful in the scrapping process and not use too much force as this could damage the fabric. The user will not be able to clean all of the wax from the upholstery at this time.

Ironing Method

  1. Plug In Iron: Plugin cloth iron and keep it at medium heat setting to warm. However, before going for ironing its important to read the Upholstery label to ensure that the iron is safe on upholstery. If incase the upholstery does not have a label, that time it does a spot test on a small, hidden spot before applying the heat to an affected area.
  2. Brown Paper Bag: Now the next step is to place a brown paper bag on the affected area and iron the brown paper bag. The ironing will start melting the wax and transfer it from the upholstery to the paper bag. If the user does not have the brown paper then use a clean rag.
  3. Repeat: Repeat the process for several number of times. Simply move the paper bag and continue the process until all of the wax is transferred from the upholstery on the bag.
  4. Removing Stains: After the wax is removed, then use upholstery or simply a carpet cleaner to remove any residual stains. Spray the cleaner on the affected area and leave the cleaner to sit for about one minute. Then, with a clean cloth or paper towel carefully blot the stain. Repeat the process until the stain is removed completely.
