Removing the back of the couch will help it to move easily from one place to another and take it anywhere with ease.   2. Pull Out The Staples: With the help of a flathead screwdriver and the pliers remove out all the staples that are holding the covering under the couch. For exposing the sofa frame roll the covering back. Pull out all the staples which are holding the upholstery which covers the arms. Roll up that upholstery as far as possible. This will help to expose all the fasteners which are holding the arms with the base.
  3. Remove Arms: Remove out all the bolts or the screws that are holding the arms, with the help of a screwdriver, wrench, or simply an Allen wrench. Once the arms are loose then remove them. If required then undo more upholstery to reach out to the bolt. If the user has a plan to reassemble the couch, then try to undo little upholstery as possible.
  4. Seat And Back: Now the user will check for the bolts that are holding the seat as well as back together. To separate the seat and the back it is important to undo whatever upholstery necessary. Unfasten the bolts, with the help of the same tool which is used to remove the arms.

Important Tips

  • Make a diagram of the couch and also whenever the user removes a bolt or screw, simply mark the location on the couch from which they are removed. Number all the screws as this will make it easier to keep the track of them.
  • Reach into the couch with full care when the user is unfastening, this is due to the reason that the brackets that are holding it together have the sharp edges and the points as well.
  • If the user has to disassemble a couch bed, then consult the manufacturer for the instructions. This is because the fold-out assembly may have the spring-loaded, and the springs can be under enough tension to harm you.
