Methods To Remove Tape Residue From Hardwood Floors

Tape Residue left on the hardwood flooring can create dark areas due to the debris that gets stuck into the sticky surface. There are several natural methods by which the user can remove tape residue from the hardwood flooring without damaging the surface and the methods are given below:

Baking Soda Method

The steps to remove tape residue with a baking soda solution are as follows:
  1. Clean The Flooring:
    The first step will be to remove all the debris for which the user needs to sweep the entire flooring.
  2. Prepare Paste:
    After that, the user needs to prepare a baking soda paste in a bowl. First, the user needs to pour 2 tablespoons of baking soda into a bowl and add half a spoon of water into it. Then, the user needs to mix baking soda and water in order to create a paste in the consistency of stiff mashed potatoes.
  3. Apply Paste:
    The next step will be to rub the paste over the tape residue area and let it dry for around 10 minutes.
  4. Wipe Out The Paste:
    The last step will be to rub and remove the baking soda paste along with unwanted tape residue from the hardwood flooring with a lint-free cloth dampened with water. If required, the user can repeat the entire method as well.

Mineral Oil Method

The steps to follow in the mineral oil method in order to remove tape residue are as follows:
  1. Saturate Lint-Free Cloth:
    First, the user needs to saturate a lint-free cloth by placing the cloth at the opening of the mineral oil bottle. After that, the user needs to tip the bottle with which a small portion of lint-free cloth will be saturated.
  2. Rub The Tape Residue:
    After that, the user needs to place two fingers at the saturated area of the lint-free cloth and rub it over the tape residue. The step should be repeated until the entire tape residue is off the hardwood flooring.

Olive Or Vegetable Oil Method

The steps to follow in this method are given below:
  1. Pour Oil Over Tape Residue:
    The first step will be to pour some olive or vegetable oil over the tape residue and let it sit on the area for about 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  2. Rub The Tape Residue:
    After that, the user needs to rub the area containing olive or vegetable oil with a lint-free cloth until the tape residue is removed from the hardwood flooring. If required, the user can repeat the method as well.
