Steps To Remove Scratches From Polyurethane Floors

  1. Clean: First of all, clean the floor with the help of the vacuum or broom, so that all the dust is removed.
  2. Sand: Now sand the scratched area with the 240-grit sandpaper, while sanding apply the light pressure, sand in the directions of the wood grains.
  3. Wipe: Once the sanding is completed then wipe the affected area with the cloth dampened in the water, and allow the area to dry completely.
  4. Wood Marker: Now with the help of the wood marker apply the same color stain to the wood.
  5. Polyurethane: Dip tip of the paint brush in the polyurethane and apply on the affected area, this will help the affected area to blend with the rest of the floor.
  6. Additional Coats: The second coat of polyurethane can be applied only after the first coat has dried completely, The second coat will make the surface smooth.

  1. Mild Detergent: Clean all the area around the scuffs with a sponge or cloth, use mild detergent formulated for use on wood floors. Clean the floor to remove all the dust, debris, and any abrasive material.
  2. Rinse: Then Rinse the floor with cloth dampened in the clean water, and dry the floor with the dry towel. Buff the scuff marks with a tennis ball.
  3. Baking Soda: Now Sprinkle a small amount of the baking soda on the affected area, until the scuff disappears buff the area, it is best suitable for heavily scuffed areas.
