Step By Step Instructions

  1. First of all, you need to cleanse the wood with the help of a liquid cleaner in order to eliminate as much of the dirt as possible. Then put a very few sprinkles of dish soap into a bucket and fill it with warm water. After that, wash off the wood having the primer before allowing it to dry completely with a towel.
  2. After cleaning the wood, brush up as much of the primer as possible with the help of a paint scraper. During the brushing process, make sure to run the scraper all along the grain of the wood.
  3. Now, affix a piece of 40 - 60 coarse-grit sandpaper to a sanding block. Turn over the paper in place over the face of the block and then fasten into place with the handle. If in case power sander is available, you can also use it for sanding process in order to make the task easy & quicker.
  4. Next, start the sanding again in the grain's direction in the wood. Begin at one end of the wood and go towards downwards, always sanding in the grain's direction. Keep performing sanding process in one spot on the wood unless & until the primer has been sanded away before moving on.
  5. Finally, eliminate the primer from wood floors with the help of a floor sander. Floor sander has large, round discs at the base which will make eliminating primers from wooden floors easier. Then remove any debris with the help of a shop vacuum.
