Three Easy Ways Of Removing Furniture Wax From Wood

If you have wooden furniture at home or any other place, that is affected by wax and you want to get rid of this issue, you can do so very easily. There are a number of ways to remove furniture wax from wood and three best ways are mentioned below:

Way 1: Buffing

First of all, try to buff the surface of the wood using a soft cloth-like rag that has to be lint-free. The user can also use the old, 100 percent woolen clothes. Wipe off all the accumulated dust and then buff in the circles while applying some pressure to the surface of the wood. Continue the buffing process until all the surface has become very less sticky and dull. If the wipe gets stained, then replace it with a new one. Here the target is to remove any furniture wax on the surface of the wood piece and do not want to reapply the wax instead. The cleaning process can be completed simply by buffing with another cloth.

Way 2: Remove Excess Wax

If the wax build-up turns old as well as hard that time purchase a product that is designed for wax removal. The wax removal products are used to eliminate excess dirt, wax, as well as oils. Apply a thin layer of the wax removal on a cloth and it is advisable to not directly apply the wax removal onto the surface of the wood. Then, buff the wood surface. Keep buffing until there is a visible result. After the removal of wax, the user can polish the piece of furniture with the help of a beeswax or carnauba wax.

Way 3: Solvent

  1. The other method is to scrub with a solvent, like mineral spirits. Apply several applications of the acetone with the gray scotch bright pads to scrub all the wax from the surface.
  2. In the solvent method the user can also mix a solution of equal parts of white vinegar with the water. Then dampen a lint-free cotton cloth with the vinegar solution and then wipe the wood surface to remove the wax buildup. Wipe wood in the direction of the grain of the wood. If the wax buildup transfers to the cloth then replace the cloth with a new one. At last, dry the wooden surface with a clean, dry lint-free cloth.
  3. The other way is to mix a solution of one cup of white vinegar with the one tablespoon of cream of tartar. Then again dampen a cotton cloth with the solution and again wipe the wax off in the direction of the wood grain.
