Removing A Doorknob With Visible Screws

  1. Remove These Screws: If in case your doorknob has visible screws, then you can easily remove these screws. Get the Phillips-head screwdriver and start the process of unscrewing the two visible screws.
  2. Remove The Doorknobs: As soon as you have unscrewed these screws, now it is time to simply get rid of the interior as well as exterior doorknobs.
  3. Unscrew The Face Plate: Again, with the help of the Phillips-head screwdriver, unscrew the two screws situated on the faceplate.
  4. Remove The Latch: Immediately after removing the screws from the faceplate, simply lay hold of the latch and pull the entire thing out.

Removing A Doorknob With No Visible Screws

  1. Locate The Slot: All knob locks consist of a slot with a latch, which is usually used to hold the knob in place. This slot can be located on the shank of the inside knob, which can be used to lock the door. This is typically a small, rectangular hole. If in case you don’t see the hole, turn the knob to either side as long as you can locate it.
  2. Push Button And Remove Knob: After locating the slot, press the release button inside of the slot with the help of a flat-head screwdriver. Push your selected tool into the hole and hold down the button. At this juncture, the interior knob should release from the door with ease.
  3. Remove Exterior Rose Plate: Next, it is time to remove the rose plate, which can be done with the help of a small, flat-head screwdriver & rigorously pry the rose plate away from the door. Typically, a small slot is present on the rose plate which will permit you to do this.
  4. Remove Interior Rose Plate: After removing the decorative rose plate, the interior rose plate with screws need to be exposed. With the help of Philips-head screwdriver, loosen these screws.
  5. Unscrew The Face Plate: Now, it is time to unscrew the faceplate & as soon as you unscrew the faceplate, remove the latch altogether.
  6. Remove Remaining Doorknob: Finally, lay hold of the remaining exterior doorknob and pull.
