Steps & Items Needed To Get Rid Of Dark Stains From Hardwood Floors

Wood flooring is a product that is originally manufactured from timber which is specially designed for use in structural, flooring or aesthetic. Steps

  1. Wipe: The first thing is that you need to get rid of dirt and grime if any with a damp cloth from your hardwood floor. If you are working on a dirty floor, the result will be in gouges, scratches, marring the finish even more. Just lightly rub the floor with the No. 1 steel wool to scour the floor area, blending with lighter rubbing into the unstained areas of the floor.
  2. Soak: Now, Soak a clean rag in vinegar (white) and place your rag onto the stain. Apply the vinegar onto the stain and wait for nearly 10 to 15 minutes. Apply the vinegar 2-3 times more to see stain lightening.
  3. Test: Make sure to test hydrogen peroxide in an inconspicuous area of your hardwood floor. Hydrogen peroxide will help to lighten the dark stain with successive applications. Soak a cloth but make sure to use clean cloth and apply to the dark water stain and wait for 5 to 10 minutes to work hydrogen peroxide. You can also mix the peroxide with water at first, if you need a stronger solution.
  4. Apply: Apply mineral spirits to the dark water stained area of your hardwood floor by using the steel wool to lightly scour the boards of hardwood floor. Wipe away any excess spirits. You can also use a hardwood floor cleaner at this stage to help remove the dark water stain from the wood floor.
  5. Mix: Make a solution of 4 parts of clean water to 1 part bleach and spray or wipe it onto the exposed surface of your hardwood floor. Bleach mixture will lighten the dark water stain with successive applications. Sanding the surface with fine sandpaper will help release out the layers of old polyurethane finish from your floor.
  6. Protect: Protect your wood floor with a layer of hardwood floor wax used after the dark water stain has been removed.
