Easy Process To Remove Small & Large Burn Marks From Carpet
Some of the factors that can cause burn marks in your carpet include cigarettes, heating irons, hair straighteners, or candles. Instead of just turning the carpet over in order to hide the burn, you can simply patch it, which in turn will help to make the damage nearly invisible. This is an easy task, however, you need to show patience and a steady hand. With the help of a few common household items, the burn mark will disappear from your carpet for good. If in case the burn mark on your upholstery is exactly the same as a scuff or scorch mark, then you can easily clean it away.
Small Burns
- First of all, sand away the burn mark with the help of sandpaper before Vacuuming over it, getting rid of any debris. Cut away the leftover burnt fibers with the help of your scissors.
- If the burn mark is still noticeable on the carpet, sink or wet through a cloth with your cleaning solution before blotting the stain. Start at the external side or surface of the carpet and work your way into the middle. Spray with water before you blot dry it.
- Leave in order to make it dry entirely. If the small burn mark is now unnoticeable, then you can stop the process here. However, if there is a need to patch up the hole, then proceed further.
- With the help of the tweezers, pull up some fibers from a separate spot in the carpet. It is highly recommended underneath a couch, bed, or table where you won’t be able to see the carpet. Pull up enough fuzz in order to fill in the hole from your small burn.
- Move or push the carpet fuzz into the shape of the hole. Get a good carpet cement before applying it to the hole. Move the carpet fuzz smoothly into the cement.
- Protect with paper and put down a heavy book on top. Leave this to dry for at least a couple of hours. Take out the paper and book. Smoothly brush with the help of your wide-tooth comb in order to put together the carpet fuzz into the enduring area.
Large Burns
- First of all, vacuum-clean the carpet in order to get rid of any debris so that the area is clean. Use your handheld function on your vacuum when you are vacuum-cleaning your carpet.
- With the help of the utility knife, trim the burnt section of the carpet. Trim through to the carpet backing, however, be careful not to interrupt the padding underneath.
- Now, it is time to combine or link up your carpet scrap. Trim it in order to fit the removed piece and be sure to look over that the texture is in the same direction so that it doesn’t look obvious.
- Use the removed piece in order to trace the pattern on the carpet scrap. Trim around it. You want two pieces that should be having the exact shape and size.
- Vacuum the hole in the floor, getting rid of any fibers, fuzz, or dirt. Put down the carpet scrap into the hole to examine whether it fits well or not. With the help of scissors, make any adjustments necessary. Put or spread your carpet adhesive to the padding in the hole.
- Place or arrange the carpet scrap in a straight line correctly and press it into place. Protect with paper and a heavy book for at least a couple of hours while the adhesive dries. Take out the paper and book. With the help of your wide-tooth comb, brush over the new carpet scrap in order to blend it in with the existing carpet.
